DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: Matthew 7:12 – So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
We overlook this simple and very intentional action in our lives. Sometimes it feels like it is too difficult to be generous and consenting to others. Especially when we are wronged, it can be an overwhelming challenge to do unto others as we’d want to be treated.
When we’re faced with these types of circumstances we have to remember God. You’re probably saying, “why do I need to remember God when I need to treat others like I’d want to be treated?” Well it is simple, when we focus on Jesus in particular, we can see his hurts. Even though he had to endure what the world threw at him, he still did what was right in God’s eyes. The amazing part is that he could have got us all back for how we treated him, be he didn’t. He showed his love and obedience by staying, dying and rising back from the dead so that our hope would be assured and the power of the cross revealed!
People aren’t perfect but Jesus was. In this life we will face the challenges of wanting to act and repay those who have offended us. As a child of God, we are supposed to be ever increasing into the living example that Christ provided. That includes taking the hurts, harms and disappointments of this world just as Jesus did, but still doing what is good and pleasing in God’s eyes.
The scripture says, that when you treat others as you want to be treated, this sums up the law.
Today, we want you to think about the example you’re following. Is it that you follow the law of this world, which suggests “you do me wrong, I’ll do you wrong” or are you following the example and law of Christ to be like him and no matter how the world treats you, you will do what is right in God’s eyes?
Remember, if you are truly a child of God and living (to the best of your ability) like Jesus Christ, you will suffer as he suffered (the bible is clear about that) but you still have to do the will of God and OBEY THE LAW! You will reap the benefits of a Christlike lifestyle, if you please God through your life of service and living as Jesus.
We pray that this word inspires you to be great for God today and every day forward. Have a blessed day and be like Jesus, not like yourself. Be victorious! In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
