DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: Hebrews 6:10 – God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.
Your good works are great. In this life we have something inside of us that pushes us to do good acts and be better every day.
There are many different works we can do, but let’s examine two types of work. There is work that we do for ourselves to feel good; this includes our jobs, helping family members, assisting strangers and close friends. There is work that we do for God to show him our love and gratitude for how he has and continues to love us; this includes being involved in ministry, sharing your faith with others, fellowshipping with the body of believers and being available for God’s use daily.
Today’s passage identifies God’s acceptance of the work that we genuinely do for him but it also lets us know that he won’t forget it. Have you ever done something for someone and then sort of felt that they should look out for you in the future because of your generosity or help, only to find out that they have either forgotten or don’t acknowledge your contribution any longer. Well God isn’t like that (Thank you Jesus!).
All of our works will be tested in the end. That means everything that you have done over your life will be laid before the throne of God and tested by fire to see what remains. We can do all the “work” in the world but if it doesn’t have any eternal benefits or lasting ability it will be consumed by the fire. Everything that remains is remembered and counted towards your heavenly bank account. I’ll let you in on a little secret: only the things that you do for Christ sincerely and genuinely will last and be remembered by God.
Today our prayer is that you begin to start doing works from the heart so as to impress God’s heart. In the end times, give Him something that reminds Him of you! Let’s get concerned about God’s work; its effects are eternally remembered and will be rewarded. Have a blessed day all. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
