DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: Galatians 6:9 – Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.
It has been done. Jesus has come, died for our sins, resurrected with all power and bridged the gap that was put in place between man and God when Adam sinned in the garden. It has been done.
Now with Jesus’ work being done, what is there for us to do? How many of us truly live our lives grateful for the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross? It’s a valid question when we see the truth about Him taking that type of punishment for us. As most of you (hopefully) know, Jesus didn’t want to die on the cross or experience the pain He did prior to His crucifixion. However, He did the work that He was born to do. Although He didn’t want to continue on with doing what He knew was right in God’s eyes, He didn’t let His feelings dictate what was right to do. He expressly made the point to recognize that He would continue because it wasn’t His will but God’s will that should be done (Mat. 26:36-46)! This is yet another example that Christ gives us, even for today, on how we should look at what God wants us to do verse what we will do or we actually do.
Its normal; matter of a fact, it’s human to feel that the amount of good we do isn’t worth it or that we are wasting our time. We have to change our mindsets if we are true believers. We have to adapt the mindset of Christ; follow His example and make it our natural behavior. We can’t stay focused on the immediate but have to put on our spiritual goggles and understand that there is a much greater purpose than what we can see or visualize in our own minds. Just think if Jesus would have gotten tired of doing what was good in God’s eyes or fulfilling the work that God had for Him to do. What hope of any kind would we have? On the contrary, Jesus kept on doing good works and even did the greatest work of all time on the cross. Why? Jesus saw the benefit it would produce in the end. Jesus had His mind on things above and all of them included you and me! Thank you Jesus!
We have to have the same mindsets. We have to understand that by continuing to do good in God’s eyes there is a greater purpose that He is trying to fulfill in our lifetime and through us. We can’t give up and stop when we don’t feel like it anymore. We have to see and know that God’s will has a greater benefit, not only for us but also for a person who’s soul He wants to save by you doing good unto them. It’s a bigger purpose than you or me. God wants there to be a production of something He desires and He wants it done through you and me! The work can’t get done if we’re not fighting the feeling of being tired or wanting to give up like Jesus did. Moreover you won’t ever see the benefits of that which could have been produced if you don’t see God’s will and how it includes you.
Today we pray that as we begin on this journey of doing good because of our reverence for Jesus Christ, we take up every example He gave us and follow that. Just as He saw the benefits of continuing to do the work He needed to do (regardless of His feelings) to reap the benefit that God had intended (a people of His own), we too can don’t grow tired of doing the same because in its right time, we also will reap a benefit that God intends for us that will bring Him ultimate glory.
