DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: Romans 8:35 – Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
Commitment is a tough thing to have but it has the benefits we desire which are engrained in our DNA. For athletes, it is the pride of being considered the best of your field. For those climbing the corporate ladder, it’s the perception of success. For the family man, it’s seeing all of the hard work poured into his family that has produced solid kids who are great additions to society. In all of these situations, there isn’t much that each of these individuals wouldn’t do to achieve their goal. The sacrifices, long hours, neglect of outside influences and dedication all add up to reaching the goal. It’s almost poetic if you think about it.
Life is about change and growth and in reality, there is no problem with wanting to be or achieve the best you can in life. You should be striving for that. However, your commitment to these things shouldn’t overshadow your commitment to God. This attribute is beautiful a thing, especially when we use it to serve God.
Each of the individuals above would practically lay down their lives for the things that they’re committed to. What about you? Where is your same zeal, dedication, and commitment to God and His will? Would you lay down your life for the cause of Christ? Are you letting anything and everything break your dedication to God’s work and His plan for your life?
We as a Christian body have to get better. Our belief in his word shouldn’t be a hindrance but produce a confidence. Now, intellectually we know that God’s love toward us can’t be severed. On the flip side however, you can sever your love for Christ. How you ask? Well when you’re faced with problems and circumstances, instead of running closer to God and his people, instead of getting the focus off of yourself or instead of trying to immerse yourself in God’s word, you run back to the way you used to do things. You run away from doing work in your local church (you run away from doing God’s work). You use excuses like, “I’m just going through it right now and I need to get myself back on track”. YOU sever your relationship but pulling away from God when you should be trying to get closer!
Only the enemy wants you to be alone and separated from God. This is how he is able to devour you and have you totally in despair. Recognize the signs. If there is anything that is taking your time from going to church, hanging with Christian believers or consuming your time from reading God’s word – that is an attack of the enemy! He wants you to feel ashamed, uneasy and neglected. Don’t fall for the trap!
Today our focus is on letting God be God and not letting the trouble of life affect our commitment to Christ and the work of God. Through every trial and hardship, we should be focusing in on the Father and remembering His promises and His authority to do everything He said He will do. Remember, there are benefits to your commitment. Will you stay committed long enough to reap them???
We hope you have a great day and pray that you don’t focus on your problems, but focus on the Father. Get committed and see the benefits of weathering the storms of life for Christ. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
