DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: Psalm 33:4-5 – For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.
What is truth? How do we discern between what is right and wrong? Is it our own moral compass? How did we get a moral compass? Even from our toddler years we understand that there is something inside each of us that innately lets us know we’ve done something right or wrong. Well the bible take us on a journey that helps us understand why we have the “breathe of life” in our bodies, how we acquired laws and morals, and why on a knowledge level (even in a limited understanding), we can differentiate between right and wrong. The crazy part in all of that is we still don’t take God’s Word for being the absolute truth. Isn’t it weird that the laws and arrangement of government depicted in the bible is still in place today? Think of the things in the bible that were considered as “sin” then, that we for some reason today (in a post-modern era) accept and don’t believe are sins any longer? But what does your core deep within you say? That feeling you get when you know something isn’t true or right (which we fail to speak out against) is the exact same thing people in biblical times died for to ensure others would repent from so that God’s truth would go forward to all generation; and it still is! How did those things all of a sudden become acceptable?
God’s word (the bible)is the basis for everything we do, everything that is established, and everything we should live by, however, we make excuses on why it can’t be the only thing we should have as a foundation. We have to get passed ourselves and let truth; God’s true word be just that, truth! As we abide by his truth, we are able to experience how faithful he really is and how he rushes to the aide of the righteous and just.
We don’t see God’s love throughout this earth and in our own lives because we haven’t fully vested ourselves in believing in his Word; the truth! How can we be convinced that God so loved the world that he sent a sacrifice to die for the sins of the world if we don’t believe in his word in which it is written for us? You’ll never be able to understand nor see his unfailing love and faithfulness in being there for his people, if you can’t simply believe that if his word says it, then it is true.
Look around you, what do you see? Has God truly given up on the human race? Or is he really slow to anger (like his word says – Numbers 14:8) and wanting none to perish but be reconciled back to him in repentance (also as his word says – 2 Peter 3:9)? We have to change our mindset and thoughts on what and who God is and see where real truth comes from? God’s word is true. When we accept that truth, we can begin to see his love and faithfulness toward us.
Today we pray that you don’t let people or even yourself tell you what your truth is! WE AS HUMANS LIE – EVEN TO OURSELVES!! WE DON’T KNOW TRUTH AND EVEN WHEN WE THINK WE DO, WE STILL CAN BE WRONG (Jer. 17:9)! God’s word is truth and the only truth that we can rely on. Depending on what truth you live by will ultimately determine what truth you will be judged by. Living by God’s truth through Jesus Christ, your judgment is innocent. Living by your own truth, your judgment is… well, good luck. Remember this; everyone is good in their own eyes until they are in front of the eyes of someone much better than themselves. God is perfect in our eyes and everyone else’s; how do you measure up today? Only one truth will stand as the standard for all we do, think, believe in and adhere to; let’s make sure it’s the true Word of God. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
