DaySpring Word of Inspiration: Psalm 23:4 – Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for you are with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
We want to be practical and to the point. The Psalmist paints a few pictures here that we should take notice of. God is omnipotent so he is everywhere, at every moment, and all the time. We are constantly in the presence of the King. How have you been acting in God’s presence…..just today? I digress so we can move on.
Often times, we recite this scripture and don’t take what is being said to heart….literally. The passage lets us know that we WILL go through situations, circumstances and setbacks in this life. These times are our valleys. However, there is a comfort that we’re given even in the midst of our seemingly (shadowy) “dead” situations. What could this comfort be??? I’m glad you asked. The problems we face, the circumstances that pop up out of nowhere, the situations that have us heartbroken are all……. (wait for it)……. SHADOWS!!!!
There is NO POWER in these or any shadow. Just as in real life, “shadows” are made to make you feel fear, anxiety, tension and stress. However, they can’t do anything to you! None of this is from God because God is light! Have you ever been scared by a shadow? They prey on our weaknesses and try to keep us from moving forward through our valleys! If you’re wondering why you keep facing certain trials and situations, it may be because you haven’t moved since a shadow has you scared. You’re not looking at God any longer, you’re looking at the shadow (i.e. the problem). The enemy has many shadows that he can use to take your focus off of God and that He is absolutely present.
Once we recognize that the King is with us, there is no fear! There is no worry or anxiety. There is peace and confidence that moves us forward through our valleys.
Today, the question before us is do you keep your focus on God, knowing that he is always present or do you let the shadows of the enemy deter you from moving forward out of your valley? We need to get back to KNOWING and FOCUSING in on God and seeing Jesus as he walks with us in times of good and bad. If you truly you believe you’re walking with Jesus in your life, there should an increasing growth of no fear of any shadow the enemy may put in your path.
We pray that you get a glimpse of God which sparks a desire to be more in tune with Him so that life’s shadows don’t keep you in your valley when he’s trying to move you with his rod, voice and love. Press through you mighty Christian, it’s only a shadow – God will lead you through it…….if you let him! Have a blessed day and we pray all of these things in Jesus’ name, AMEN!
