DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: John 5:24 – “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged; he has crossed over from death to life.
What do you believe in? Did you know that true belief is an action? The idea is that whatever you believe in, it will make you do or not do certain things. If you believed that you were supposed to search for a new job or career, you’d make the necessary moves to do so. If you believed that your family was in danger, you’d be moved to ensure their safety. If you believed you could fly, you’d probably try jumping off roofs or building to show it was true (however, I highly suggest that you don’t try that – it ain’t happening!). The fact of the matter is because you believe so strongly in something it causes you to move, to do something, to showcase your belief by action.
Our passage has Jesus speaking to us in that same regard. Our belief in God should have us to display something different, new or with urgency in our lives. Belief in the one that sent Jesus should produce obedience to all that we hear from God through the bible. How have you been doing? We all say that we believe in God, Jesus and the power. Does your life show that? Are you moved to action in doing what God has specifically said in his word for you to do?
The other part I think we fail to remember is that there is a benefit when we stick to what we believe in. People not only see our convictions, but they will respect our integrity. If you told someone that you believe you’re supposed to have this certain job, the benefit could be that they join in your belief and assist you with getting that job. The feeling of sticking to your guns in times of adversity and coming out on the right side always does more for those who see you than for yourself. Why? Well, now they start to believe they can accomplish things too, even amidst adversity.
Just as with Christ, if we show our dedicated belief in God with passion, conviction and faith, there is a benefit for us! It is eternal life. No condemnation or judgment. Plus others will see your strength in your belief in Christ and they may be inspired to do the same! That is freedom and freedom feels good!
Today we hope that you are making decisions to not just be a mouth-piece that only speaks of your belief in God and Jesus Christ but actually shows that belief lived out in your life. Reap the benefit that God has for you. Do you believe you it’s available for you? Prove it…….Show it!
