DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: Isaiah 7:14 – Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.
One of the things that makes the bible such a perfect piece of work; unable to be refuted in common sense and standing the test of time is its prophecies. The prophecies of the bible are so crucial to its validation because if any one of them were ever wrong, if any of them didn’t come true, if any of them could be left up to debate or everyone’s own interpretation, man could honestly say that everything in it could be wrong and it has no basis for us to live by because it is imperfect. Well, thank God it is perfect! Every event, action, story, and teaching is a life lesson for us to be able to live by; even today! An amazing aspect of its perfection is its relevance. For as important and applicable as it was during the time of its writing, it has the exact same meaning, direction and power as it did. It never fades in its ability to be currently active. God truly loves and is faithful to us.
One of the greatest prophecies for the believer that can ever have been given is the one in our passage from today. This is a foretelling of the birth of Christ. This very prophecy is what all Jews of that time hung their hats on as a hope for their future. The coming of the reign of their King; the Messiah! As told to the people hundreds of years before He was born, the expectation of the sign that their King had come was in the form of an immaculate conception. The beauty of this truth rings throughout all of the scriptures. God’s foreknowledge is laid before us in a form we can read on a daily basis. It spells out instances that we can use to help us avoid greater problems in this life and assures us of a hope to look forward to as we trust and place our faith in Jesus Himself.
Did you know that there are over 2,500 prophecies in the bible and of that over 2,000 have come true to this current point (leaving approx. 500 or so to occur in future times)? Now that’s actually not the impressive part, the impressive part is that in those 2,000 or so that have come true; they have done so with 100% accuracy! That means none of them have been wrong, off by a little, slightly misunderstood, or anything like that. They have been perfect and God’s word is true, 100% of the time!
The reason for this season is in light of that fact; that Jesus would be and was born. His birth being foretold for the generations to come and have a hope in because of the work He would accomplish for all. It’s the power of the prophetic words of God Himself! Do you believe what God has said and has to say to you today? Is it accurate?
We pray today we understand that as perfect as God’s word is, it’s importance for our lives is that much more significant because whether God is encouraging us, warning us, assisting us, teaching us, convicting us, or pleading with us, it is for us all to know what is to come and that it will inevitably come to pass with 100% accuracy! Our passage today helps us get in the mindset of being encouraged by God’s love for us in telling us beforehand what we can expect. It’s a mixed bag of nuts but in everything good and bad we can never say we didn’t know or weren’t given time to get ready. We pray we’re all getting ready for the prophecies that WILL come next. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
