DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: Hebrews 9:28 – so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
As we journey through this wonderful week, I’d like us to take a look back over the week’s meditations to examine how much we need God, how he is constantly there for us and why it’s so important to make changes in our lives now to show our gratitude for Jesus’ sacrifice.
When Jesus’ died on the cross for your and my sins, he did it for every sin that we have done or will ever do. The price for sin was God’s wrath which Jesus took upon himself. It is imperative that as a believer you show forth allegiance to that fact and live in accordance to the scriptures as a child of God would or someone who is simply grateful. Jesus’ sole mission for coming to earth was to save us from our sins; to restore the broken relationship between man and God. Thank you God, he succeeded.
Whether you believe it or not, Jesus will be coming back ONE final time. It will be the encore of a lifetime. This is one sight NO ONE will miss. After this time, the show will end. There won’t be another chance to get a ticket, there won’t be any other showings and most importantly, this show will be gone forever. So how does that translate to you today? Jesus is coming back, no doubt. You are either ready, waiting and expecting his show; conducting yourself as an avid fan but quietly containing yourself as the show is going on (i.e. life); encouraging others to hurry up and get a seat because this is going to be the show of the ages with a final encore OR you can think you’ll have time to catch a later showing……..
If you didn’t get that, how about this: About a year & a half to two year ago or so, Prince (Mr. Purple Rain himself) did 25-30 night shows at The Forum in Inglewood, California. It was the talk of the town. Tickets were only $25 & it was expected to be a great event. As great as it was, there was a beautiful twist. Many people came to the event thinking that they were going to see Prince with some special guests and go home. Well if you went, you know that at the end of his opening set, the lights came on, people started to file out of the arena but there was a slight commotion in the crowd…there’s a rumor that he’s coming back. 5 minutes pass, 10 minutes pass people start to leave saying “naw, the shows over. I’m going home”. Now a stranger is talking to you, “No really, he’s coming back, you just have to be patient. It’s going to be awesome!”. Against the pleas of the crowd, you leave. The next day you wake up and hear your local radio host ranting about how amazing it was; when after about 20 minutes Prince came out 4 different times and did different material & had more guests than he had before. You kick yourself in the pants and wish you had listened!
Time to get practical, Prince came back 4 different times. The one difference about Jesus’ encore is that he’s only coming back one final time. There are no other chances. The benefit for you is that if you stay close to God and live life as he commands, Jesus will come back for YOU! Don’t you want to go?
Today we implore you to start taking Jesus seriously. Get connected with a local church that is genuinely preaching God’s word and changing folks lives for the advancement of the gospel. Jesus has paid the price of admission but are you accepting his invitation and believing that he has you cover?
