DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: Hebrews 11:6 – and without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Over last week we were able to see what our faith was in worship of God. This week we look at another dimension of our faith and how it translates to a productive and noticeable asset in our lives. Now, I think we understand the basics of what faith is. Also in that we understand that trust is a byproduct of our faith. Even outside of spiritual reasoning, when we have faith in someone, we are trusting that they will do the right thing by us, for us and with us in mind. The same can be said about our faith in God. Our faith in God should produce a trust that everything he does for us, tells us to do, or is doing is in our best interest. On the subject, as we believe in Christ and die to ourselves (our old lives), we aren’t ourselves any longer anyways, right?! The scriptures tell us that we die and now Christ is alive in us (Galatians 2:20). What’s the meaning in regular terms? We have trusted that Christ can handle these vessels (our human bodies) and will do what is pleasing in God’s sight with them if we trust in Him. So that brings us to a few questions which puts this ideal into prospective:
- Do you trust that Christ will do what is right with your life better than you would?
- Does your life show your faith (trust) is solely in Christ so that a pleasing work can be done unto God?
- Does your life display that you trust the right source and pleasing God by what you do?
Take your time and answer these questions wisely because they are in direction connection with our passage from today. If your faith is rooted in yourself, the same ole you who has been messing it up over and over again for years upon years, can you honestly say you believe in Christ? Christ knows how to please God exactly in the way that would honor him most and he continues to try and please God; and that’s how our lives should look when Christ takes it over. If you haven’t died to yourself and allowed Christ to live for you, do you believe you’re pleasing God in faith as he deems it? Do you really believe that Christ exists as the one you should trust and put your faith in? What does your life say? Is it still your life or is Christ living through you? Faith in God would have you trusting in the one he sent and allowing him to live for you now! Your faith in Christ makes it possible for you to do pleasing acts unto God because it’s not you living anymore but Christ living for you as he knows God would have you; He (Jesus) is perfecting you in God’s sight.
Today we pray that your faith in rooted in the possibility that Christ has your best interest at heart. By allowing him to reside in you, you essentially are able to do what God’s word says and please him because of your belief in faith that God sent Jesus to die for your sins. Now, Jesus makes you live as a servant who honors, pleases, and seeks after his master. Which master do you seek to honor; self or God? Are you more real than God and his Son? Who’s in control of your life will answer those questions and more importantly, will tell you if you’re pleasing God or not in your beliefs of him. Place your faith in the truth about God and His Son Jesus Christ and seek him above all else because He does exist. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
